Coca-Cola is another popular attraction that is located in Fulton County. The main headquarters for this world-renown cola factory offers tours and a history of how Coca-Cola came to be. Others appreciate the museum that is available, which offers various Coke products from around the world for sample. This is a wonderful way to taste the various cola products and find a new favorite.

The King Center is a wonderful tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, a civil rights activist. Dr. King led many marches for equality and wanted to enrich the lives of many. His message of peace still lives on at the King Center, where followers of his speeches can pay homage to Dr. King and his wife, Coretta Scott King.

The History of the Fulton County Stadium



Atlanta Fulton County StadiumIn 1965, an $18 million dollar project was underway. The Fulton County Stadium was a large venture of its time, creating the most elaborate of stadiums in Georgia. This stadium was created for a myriad of reasons, from holding monster truck show rallies to having concerts.

Many of baseball's greats played in Fulton County Stadium, as the Atlanta Braves were quick to call the stadium home, and played in front of sold out crowds. Baseball legends such as Hank Aaron were known to hit home runs in the stadium, quickly making the Braves a favored baseball team. In 1972, the stadium opened its doors to welcome the Major League Baseball All Star Game. This was a phenomenal occurrence at the stadium, and until that time, was an unprecedented event.

The Atlanta Braves were also quick to draw attention to the Fulton County Stadium as they played in World Series championships against the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays and the Cleveland Indians. It was not until 1995 that the Braves won the World Series against the Cleveland Indians that turned everyone's attention to the Fulton County Stadium.

Although the stadium served its purpose for over 30 years, there were those in the community that wanted to see it transformed into something more. In 1996, the World Series was being played at the Fulton Stadium for the last time. The final event held at the stadium was game 5 of the World Series against the Yankees. In 1997, the stadium was demolished and the land used as a future parking lot for the new Turner Field.
